Emblematic Barrel Roll – Colombian coffee beans aged in oak rum barrels

Embark on a culinary journey with **Emblematic Barrel Roll**, an exclusive coffee experience that combines tradition and innovation. This unique coffee is made from exquisite Colombian coffee beans, aged in oak rum barrels before being gently roasted. The result is a deep and complex flavor profile with notes of rum, raisins, coffee and chocolate.

The story behind:

The inspiration for **Emblematic Barrel Roll** draws on classic seafaring adventures. In the past, sailors would sail across the oceans with rum as a faithful traveling companion. After enjoying the rum on their long voyages, they would use the empty oak rum barrels to store coffee on the way home. The constant rocking of the ship rolled the barrels, creating a natural maceration process where the coffee beans absorbed the aroma and flavor of the rum.

To recreate this tradition, we turn the barrels daily during aging, as if they were still on a rocking ship. This process gives the coffee its unique character and depth.

Flavor profile:

  • Aroma : A deep, seductive scent of sweet rum, dark chocolate and sun-ripened raisins that awakens the senses.
  • Taste : A rich, well-balanced combination of the warmth of rum, the creamy sweetness of chocolate and the intense depth of coffee.
  • Aftertaste : Long-lasting and silky, with subtle nuances of oak and a warm spicy sweetness that tantalizes the taste buds.

Origin:

The coffee beans come from carefully selected coffee plantations in Colombia's mountainous landscapes, where they are grown under ideal conditions. Each bean is carefully picked at optimal ripeness to ensure exceptional quality.

Processing:

The beans are first aged in oak rum barrels, where they absorb the complex aromas from the casks. The daily turning of the barrels simulates the movements of the ship and further refines the taste experience, before the beans are gently roasted.

Emblematic Barrel Roll is not just coffee – it is a sophisticated tasting experience that combines Colombia's rich coffee culture with the luxurious depth of the rum barrel and a history that tastes of the world's oceans.

About the cultivation and processing - About the Process

About the green beans - La Cumparsita, the Velázquez Lopez family

Near Chinchina, Caldas, Colombia, you'll find a farm called La Cumparsita Coffee Farm, owned by producer Sebastián Velázquez Lopez and his father Carlos Velázquez Henao. This family project began in 2021 when they planted and cultivated coffee on 5.5 hectares of land. By 2023, they were able to sell their first production of specialty coffee to the world and La Cumparita was on the map.

At first they only had two coffee varieties, Caturra and Colombia, and by the end of 2023 they started growing Pink Bourbon and Yellow Geisha as well. La Cumparsita was the brainchild of Sebastián, who believes that part of transforming coffee is giving the plants a better life and creating a better way of working for his employees, including his family, who are the main force behind the daily work.

Sebastián is passionate about coffee and works tirelessly with his wife Eliana Gomez Correa; together they manage to take the entire coffee project forward. Currently, La Cumparsita Coffee Farm has 10 planted varieties, 4 of which are in harvest and the rest are under cultivation. The company's goal is to grow every day, produce and create better coffee for their customers and in the future show many people in the world that they can have high quality in a natural way.

About our choice of coffee beans

Coffee is at the heart of everything we do at EverBean. It is the driving force behind our commitment to equipment, service and guidance in coffee brewing. We value the quality of the coffee's raw materials, as that is what ends up in your cup. At EverBean, our primary focus is to ensure quality in every cup. We import carefully selected coffee beans from the world's best sources to ensure the ultimate taste experience."

The continents

No matter which coffee farm we get the beans from, you can always find information about the origin, the farm they are grown on, the process the beans have gone through and the history behind the producer. For us, it would be anything but the truth if we took all the credit for the beautiful taste experiences in the cups.

Our coffee selection covers most of the world and we never take home a coffee we don't like just to make money. We stand behind our work and taste.

Sometimes we take home very exclusive beans in smaller portions than the "normal" roasts we have. We do this to be able to offer you something completely unique and expand our knowledge at the same time.

YOUR choice, YOUR taste

Whether it's on a trip abroad, a conversation with a random person, or through our regular partners around the world, we always take the best green beans home and roast them at our own roastery.

Wherever the beans come from, we give them the utmost respect and care, as we know how much they have been through to get to your cup. You can always ask about our coffee, its origin and the process. Or you can read much more about the journey of a coffee bean on our blog.
