We are well aware that we can never make coffee without leaving a footprint – but we decide what it looks like. It is our choice, our compromises, and our responsibility.
When we choose a coffee, it is never just one thing we look at. It is always a balance between price, footprint, and taste. Marketability does not come first. We know we could sell more if we compromised a little more – but we would end up with something we didn't like ourselves. Something we couldn't stand behind.
We work with small-scale producers. Those who live in the shadow of the big ones – who don't have money for advertising, but who keep going anyway because they love what they do. They are the ones we want to support. Not because it is easy, but because it feels right.
We are not perfect. But we try our best. We are constantly asking ourselves: Can we stand behind this? If the answer is not a clear yes, then we don't do it. That is how we think about sustainability – not as a calculation, but as a conscience.
